What is muay thai kickboxing?

Muay Thai is a striking martial art. In many aspects it is similar to boxing and kickboxing, except that strikes with knees and elbows, as well as clinches, are incorporated. Since clinching is an effective way to bring a fight to the ground, where BJJ excels, the clinching techniques in Muay Thai make it tactically complementary to BJJ or any ground-fighting martial art. For this reason, Muay Thai is popular among MMA fighters where the ability to take a fight to the ground while maintaining striking ability can be beneficial.

Our Muay Thai classes are multi-level. Advanced techniques are explained to and drilled by everyone. However, anyone not quite ready for some advanced moves are instructed individually on basic moves to drill instead. Adults and mature teenagers are welcome to participate.

In addition to the Muay Thai class, the MMA Striking class employs Muay Thai techniques in MMA-style sparring drills. If you’re looking for boxing lessons or kickboxing lessons, Muay Thai lessons will fulfill both those needs.

With such high-intensity, Muay Thai is inherently very physically and mentally demanding. With our style of Muay Thai training, these natural demands are emphasized and leveraged to improve stamina and resolve while technique and proactive/reactive instinct are continually refined.
